History

The Child Era

During the events involving the Ocarina of Time, Link must visit the Lost Woods to talk to Saria and eventually cleanse the Forest Temple. During his trip through the Lost Woods, he encounters a Skull Kid playing a flute. They are playing "Saria's Song". Link plays his ocarina with them before moving on to see Saria.

After Ganondorf's defeat, Link is riding through the Lost Woods on horseback via Epona. A Skull Kid spots him and attacks. Skull Kid knocks Link off his horse and flees from him, heading to the parallel world of Termina. The Skull Kid also left his Fairy behind. Link is forced to work with the Fairy and together, the two defeat the Skull Kid.

The whole time, the Skull Kid was under the influence of Majora's Mask and almost killed everyone in Termina.

During the events involving the Twilight Princess, Link visits the Sacred Grove and a Skull Kid guides him through it. However, the mischievous and playful Skull Kid turns it into a hide-and-seek game. Later on, Link revisits the Sacred Grove and is guided to the Temple of Time ruins. Once there, the Skull Kid summons puppets to battle Link. All the puppets are defeated and the Skull Kid says it was fun and vanishes.

In the other eras, the fate of the Skull Kids is a mystery.

Appearance

Skull Kids have a scarecrow-like appearance. The physical appearance of Skull Kids varies somewhat, but their childlike size, tattered, reddish garb, and wide-brimmed hats remain constant. Skull Kids also have beaks.
